Florida Felon Voting Rights Restored
Overview
Most felons who have served their sentences, including parole and probation, and have paid all their fines, restitution, and fees can vote in Florida.
Eligibility to Vote After a Felony Conviction
The following standards govern eligibility to vote after a felony conviction in Florida:
- Felony convictions for murder or sexual offenses are permanently disqualifying.
- Non-violent felonies do not automatically disqualify an individual from voting.
- Individuals must complete all aspects of their sentence, including prison, parole, and probation.
- All fines, restitution, and fees must be paid in full.
Florida Constitutional Amendment 4
On November 6, 2018, Florida Constitutional Amendment 4 was overwhelmingly approved by Florida voters, restoring voting rights for individuals with prior felony convictions who have completed their sentences and met the above criteria.
Current Status
As of 2023, Amendment 4 is still in effect, and most felons who meet the eligibility requirements can vote in Florida elections.
